A sundial square for the Master

Marti Square is a monumental work of the architect Domingo Alás Rosell, and is located in the historic center of this city of Las Tunas, capital of the province of the same name. This is a project of commemorative and environmental solar architecture in which astronomy is mixed with the story. It comes after a deep historical, astronomical and architectural study and its main protagonists are the National Hero of Cuba, José Martí, represented by a sculpture by Rita Longa, and the sun. It was inaugurated on March 25, 1995, in commemoration of the centenary of the signing of the Manifesto of Montecristi, and is one of the largest institutions connotation in the territory, not only for the wealth of information that holds on so-called Apostle the independence of Cuba, but for the cultural values that are part of it.
